Lady Sarah Rose Cholmondeley, colloquially known as Rose Hanbury, has finally addressed the rumours about her supposed affair with Prince William. She responded via her lawyers and said that the rumours were “completely false”, according to a report in Business Insider.

Rose Hanbury is reportedly a part of the Kate Middleton and Prince William’s inner circle and is a former model. Now, the 39-year-old spends time managing the estate of her husband, David Rocksavage, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, according to The Independent.

She was the latest entrant in the drama surrounding Kate Middleton’s “disappearance” and rumours of her affair with the Prince of Wales started swirling around after American host Stephen Colbert did a segment about the same on his late night TV show.

“The kingdom has been all aflutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the future king of England, William, having an affair,” Colbert said in the episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

“Oh no, my heart goes out to poor Kate. I’m ready to spill the tea… I think we all know who the alleged other woman is. Say it with me –– the Marchioness of Cholmondeley,” he added, mispronouncing Cholmondeley.

“What a beautiful name, that I am now being told I pronounced incorrectly. It is, in fact, pronounced Chumley.”

“Now there have been rumours an affair between William and the Marching Band of Chicanery since 2019. According to tabloids back then, when Kate supposedly confronted him about it, he laughed it off saying there was nothing to it. Always a good response when your wife accuses you of cheating” he continued.

Colbert cited a story titled - “Rumors Surrounding Prince William’s Relationship With Rose Hanbury Are at an All-Time High Amid Kate Middleton’s Recovery”, during his bombshell segment that addressed the sudden absence of the Princess of Wales as well.

Kate Middleton was last seen in public in December 2023 and underwent a "planned abdominal surgery". According to a statement by the Kensington Palace, she would resume official duties after Easter.

However, her "disappearance" has served as fodder to endless speculation around her health and Prince William's alleged affair with Hanbury. Since this is the longest time that a British royal has been away from the public eye, a plethora of conspiracy theories were also churned out on social media.

Meanwhile, a video showing Prince William and the Princess of Wales shopping at a farmer's market is doing the rounds of the internet. However, the footage, instead of quashing the speculations surrounding Middleton's absence, fueled the doubts behind her "disappearance" even more.
