Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, who made his first visit to Kolkata after 10 years recently, revealed that the logo of his much-acclaimed band was inspired by an image of Goddess Kali's tongue.
Jagger said that in 1969, he was looking for a photo that would appeal to him and later saw a photo of Kali's tongue, which proved to be an inspiration for the eventual logo of the band.
"My brother was an early traveller to India. He would give me some books to read. In 1969, I was looking for an image that would be an eye-grabbing thing, and I saw this image of a disembodied tongue of Kali. I thought it would be an inspiration. Then, designer John Pasche created this modernistic version of the tongue logo," Jagger told Times of India in an interview.

"I watched his films when I was young. I was a film buff in my 20s. It is that time when one is trying to absorb everything. I watched early Roman Polanski films. Ray was the one who was the most impressive," Jagger said.
On Friday, Jagger posted on X (formerly Twitter) and thanked India for a wonderful stay in the country.
