Edelweiss Mutual Funds CEO Radhika Gupta urged people against becoming WhatsApp warriors to avoid the spread of misinformation.

As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, political and business leaders have been urging citizens to be wary of fake news and misinformation being spread as propaganda. They advised citizens to always check with verified sources when it comes to consuming sensitive information.

Speaking along the same lines, Edelweiss Mutual Funds CEO Radhika Gupta on Thursday shared three ways in which civilians can support frontline forces. "Spread accurate information. And if you don't have any, stay silent. A few less WhatsApp warriors hurt no one," she wrote.

Second, Gupta advised citizens to be good ambassadors to the country that our people risk their lives to defend. "Say good things, do good things. This is the time to be united, not critical," she said.

The Edelweiss MF boss also requested citizens to follow the rules and uphold the discipline that our armed forces stand for. "One person not following a rule makes life more difficult in already difficult times," she concluded.

Meanwhile, Press Information Bureau (PIB), the central government's nodal agency for communicating with the media, shared an advisory on being wary of coming across Pakistan-sponsored propaganda.

"In the coming days, your social media will be flooded with Pakistan-sponsored propaganda. It's crucial to scrutinise every piece of information carefully," it stated. "A coordinated misinformation campaign is being waged by Pakistani social media. Their objective is to sow mistrust, confusion, and panic in India. Do not fall prey to deliberately spread misinformation. Stay alerts stay vigilant!"
