A food blogger from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu was in for a shocking surprise after he bought some gulab jamuns from a famous shop in Chennai. A video shared by tn38_foodie on Instagram showed a worm wriggling over the sweets. The clip has gone viral online and has sparked a flurry of comments from social media users.

In the now-viral video, a white-coloured worm was seen wriggling on a piece of gulab jamun in a box. The food blogger had purchased the sweets from Adyar Ananda Bhavan located at Chennai’s Ashok Nagar metro station, Zaffarkhanpet.

“Here comes the surprising dancing worm. Totally disappointed @a2b.official,” he wrote while sharing the location of the outlet. “Purchased at Ashok Nagar metro station, Zaffarkhanpet, Ashok Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600083.”

Since being shared online, the video has clocked in over four million views and amassed several furious comments from Instagram users.

“Omg! Thanks for being a genuine reviewer and not doing paid kitchen tours of the restaurant! @a2b.official do you have anything to say?” a user questioned.

Another user commented, “It's called threadworm or pinworm or seatworm. Caused by unhygienic activities. You can also see this worm in child poop. No proper handwashing is also one of the reasons for it.”

A third user wrote, “New fear unlocked.”

However, some people also defended the popular shop. “Why do u need it to make viral. Sometimes mistakes may happen, you can visit the store and describe your problem, if they don’t take action, then this would be best,” a user added.

“I think it’s not a2b fault you should have kept in fridge at least. Even I bought it from the same shop on November 15 but that was good for a week once I kept in a fridge. Bro it may be you must have kept outside itself and opened after 4 days maybe the fact. Don't do this for your content bro,” another person exclaimed.

Meanwhile, no clarification or response has been posted by Adyar Ananda Bhavan as yet.
