A man was arrested after getting caught for sexually harassing a woman passenger on a Mumbai-Guwahati Indigo flight, a Times of India (TOI) report said. The incident took place on Saturday on an Indigo flight 6E-5319 which left Mumbai after 9 pm and landed at Guwahati at 12:15 am.
The woman said that initially, she did not wish to put too much thought into the man touching her inappropriately and decided to wait before coming to a conclusion.
"I found it weird because I distinctly remembered putting the hand down. Half-asleep, I didn't think too much about it, put the armrest down again and went back to sleep.
"I didn't want to jump to conclusions...so, I waited, kept my eyes half-closed and pretended to be asleep," the woman told TOI.
She then found the passenger touching her inappropriately, which made her want to scream. Eventually, when the man tried to touch her again she pulled his hand away, yelled and called out the airline crew.
"I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. I froze.
"He started apologising for what he did, while I was shouting, crying and narrating the incident," the woman added.
Later, Indigo issued a statement saying that the man was arrested and handed over to the police at Guwahati and a case was filed against his name.
"An FIR has been filed by the complainant with the local police and we will provide assistance in their investigation," the airline said in a statement.
