Reacting to layoffs at Google and Tesla, the IIM Ahmedabad alumni wrote about how dream company had become a quaint notion how profit margins had gained increased precedence with corporate firms.

Leading software firms such as Google have left the future of many employees in a soup by announcing to lay off close to 200 employees from its "core group" in a reorganisation move that will include moving some roles to India and Mexico.

Along with Google, another giant which decided to take the difficult decision to cut jobs was Tesla due to falling sales.

Amid the layoffs, an alumni of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad raised questions about working in a dream company and why jobs cuts was an indication of how a dream company was a "quaint notion."

"Well, isn't it just grand to see these big corporations making such thoughtful decisions for their employees? Google, the beacon of innovation, decides it's a fantastic idea to let go of their entire Python team. Because, obviously, Python is so last season for them."

"And Tesla, bless their hearts, they've got the whole layoff thing down to an art form. It's like a team-building exercise, but instead of trust falls, you get handed a pink slip," the man wrote on LinkedIn.

He further wrote about how profit margins had gained increased precedence at corporate firms and shared how he met a student who was part of Atlassian's PPO, but was out of a job since the company revoked at the last minute.

"The term "dream company." What a quaint notion. Who needs dreams when you can have profit margins !! Let's all raise a glass to the corporate overlords, because clearly, they've got our best interests at heart. Cheers to uncertainty and disappointment!"

"I met an student who was part of Atlassian's PPO & now remains Jobless just coz at last moment they revoked!" he wrote.

Last week, a Pakistani-origin woman had taken to LinkedIn to share how she had lost her job at Tesla, but despite losing her job, said that her face would stay on the company website as a reminder to what she had achieved during her time there.
