IFS officer Himanshu Tyagi emphasised the importance of discipline, consistency and fewer distractions while preparing for the IIT exam.

Despite a steady rise in the number of universities in India in the past decade, the ambition for many students with engineering aspirations after completing Class 12 continues to be about securing a seat at one of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) institutions.

An Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer recently took to X (formerly Twitter) and offered four important tips for students on how to prepare for the IIT exams.

Writing on the social media platform, Himanshu Tyagi shared a thread of suggestions for students to prepare for the exam and emphasised the importance of discipline, consistency and fewer distractions while studying for the exam.

The first suggestion was to practice mental contrasting-a self regulation strategy that involves imagining how one's life would be after achieving the goals.

Tyagi's second suggestion was to identify aspects that could be a source of distraction for IIT preparation such as social media and social circle and urged students preparing for the exams to remove every distraction that can affect preparations.

The third suggestion was to have immense self-belief and look back at successful experiences to get a positive feeling during IIT exam preparations.

Tyagi's fourth and final suggestion was look inward and instead of putting the blame on someone else, ask oneself as to what can be done next to move forward.
This is not the first time that Tyagi has taken to X (formerly Twitter) and offered suggestions to prepare for an important entrance exam.

In December, Tyagi had offered tips on how to prepare for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam with a full-time job, throwing light on the importance of waking up early to study and utilising the time off on weekends judiciously.

The suggestions come a few days after a IIT topper replied to a gruelling schedule shared on social media and said that he did not study even half of what was mentioned in the post.
