Millions of people across the world aim to get placed in their dream companies. And among those is Google as well. A significant majority of the the aforementioned people dream of landing a job at the tech giant as well. Among them is Qingyue Wang as well. A software engineer at Google, Wang took to LinkedIn to share her a story about her journey and how she failed 5 times before landing a job there.

“The 1st time was in 2018. I received an online assessment from Google. I was excited, but I didn't pass the OA. Afterwards, an interviewer reached out to me. They had reviewed my OA answers and wanted to give me a second chance. Unfortunately, I didn't pass on this attempt either,” Wang wrote in her viral post on LinkedIn.

“My 3rd attempt was in early 2020. I had a phone screening interview, which I didn't pass. Persisting, I applied again in 2020 for a Site Reliability Engineer role. After four rounds of interviews and receiving positive feedback, the role was unfortunately canceled due to the pandemic,” she added.

Wang finally landed a job as a software engineer at Google in 2022. “After passing the interview, I received a gift from Google along with a paper that said, ‘Congratulations, searching for a job is hard’. I've kept this paper for 2 years now as it continually reminds me of the importance of persistence and not giving up,” Wang wrote.

She also urged everyone to “stop blaming and doubting yourself” and called persistence a “major factor” within control. Along with the post, the techie also attached a picture of the note that she received upon being hired and a gift from the company.

"Inspiring! Thank you. I needed to read this post," one user wrote. Another user commented, "Really your journey is very much inspiring!"

"I love your attitude and persistence. I think that's even more invaluable than top-notch coding skills or whatever you were being tested on. Thank you for sharing. This encouraged me to never give up!"
