Avengers Endgame starts on a marvelous note in India with advance booking records beating Hindi films
According to Box Office India, the 22nd offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has recorded a pre-release collection of Rs 65-70 crore which is the highest, compared to other Hindi releases.

That Avengers Endgame will see a strong run at the Indian box office was known. But the audience response for the film is such that it wouldn’t be surprising if the film makes record-breaking collections in the Indian market. There has been a frenzy for the advance booking for the film so much so that BookMyShow alone sold as many as 2.5 million tickets or more. Trade analysts claim that the Marvel movie has broken pre-sales records of some of Hindi biggies like Thugs of Hindostan, Tiger Zinda Hai and that the film is only second to Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. According to Box Office India, the 22nd offering from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has recorded a pre-release collection of Rs 65-70 crore which is the highest, compared to other Hindi releases. If only Hindi and English versions are considered, then Avengers Endgame tops the list of highest advances, followed by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 37.53 crore. However, if all versions are included especially Telugu then Baahubali 2 wins the race. Avengers Infinity War had recorded an advance collection of Rs 29.14 crore and stands third on the list. Bollywood movies like Thugs of Hindostan, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan, Sanju, Race 3, Dangal, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo saw a pre-sales business of Rs 26.27 crore, Rs 24.76 crore, Rs 21.53 crore, Rs 20.35 crore, Rs 19.16 crore, Rs 18.84 crore, Rs 15.73 crore, respectively. These numbers show that Avengers Endgame has topped all the Hindi releases. For the morning shows, the film has taken a strong start with 85-90 percent occupancy, the highest in recent times. Baahubali 2 and Salman Khan-starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo had witnessed morning occupancy in the range of 70 percent and Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan recorded occupancy in the range of 60-65 percent. While the Hollywood venture has released in 2,845 screens in India, it still has managed the highest occupancy indicating that wide releases alone cannot guarantee high footfalls. Releasing in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu versions, Avengers Endgame is expected to rake in over Rs 40 crore on day one. Some estimates that are too optimistic expect the film to gather around Rs 50 crore. Avengers Endgame has a strong potential to make record business in India as the film sees no competition for at least two weeks. Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2 will only hit theatres by May 10. Until then Endgame has a lot of time to rake in the moolahs.
