Users across the globe, including India, reported difficulties while trying to log into their Gmail, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram accounts on Tuesday night.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, approximately 500,000 Facebook users encountered difficulties logging in or accessing their accounts. About 50,000 Instagram users also reported outages and an additional 10,000 reported for Facebook Messenger.
The sudden outage triggered several reactions from social media users who took to X to share updates and also post hilarious memes regarding the same. The blackout across Google and Meta-owned apps happened at around 9 pm IST, as reported by Downdetector.
Meanwhile, coupled with the memes that flooded X, formerly Twitter, chief Elon Musk also reacted to the global outage of Facebook and Instagram and took a jibe at Meta. "If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working," the billionaire said in a post on X.

"We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now," Stone had written.
"The issue was resolved as quickly as for everyone who was impacted, Stone said in another post. "We apologize for any inconvenience, " he added.
The issue was resolved after an hour and the two apps were back online with fewer than 80,000 people reporting issues with Facebook.
