Delhi techie claims man spat on her at metro station: 'I hope no woman comes across a human like him'

'A man like him does not deserve to be surrounded by civilians. I was on the escalator of a metro station, and he was behind me. And what he did after that was just beyond anything. He SPAT on me. He was chewing tobacco or I don’t know what, but he SPAT on me,' Rishika Gupta, who is a senior software engineer at LinkedIn, wrote while sharing a picture of the man.

A woman from Delhi took to X to share a harrowing account after she was spat on by a man at a metro station in the city. In the viral post, Rishika Gupta claimed that the man was chewing tobacco and was standing on the escalator behind her when the incident happened.

“A man like him does not deserve to be surrounded by civilians. I was on the escalator of a metro station, and he was behind me. And what he did after that was just beyond anything. He SPAT on me. He was chewing tobacco or I don’t know what, but he SPAT on me,” Gupta, who is a senior software engineer at LinkedIn, wrote while sharing a picture of the man.

“I don’t even want to mention his intention of doing all this, which was very clear from the place he spat on me. I just don’t understand what these kinds of people think and how dirty someone can be. The worst part is he wasn't even sorry for what he did. I hope no woman comes across a human like him,” she added.

In another tweet, she shared a picture of her jeans on which the perpetrator allegedly had spat on and wrote, “I know I don’t need to answer every question asked here, but this is just to prove that it’s a real incident and was done intentionally. When someone wrongs you, they usually say sorry.”

“He was so shameless that after I cleaned myself a bit, I threw my handkerchief at him in anger, and he kept it with him (as evident in the picture as well),” she wrote further.

Gupta shared the post on Saturday and it has gone viral with over two million views. Social media users were absolutely disgusted and some women even shared their own experiences.

“I know a lot of us will tell you what you should have done. But when it happens, in that moment, you’re simply so confused/angry/embarrassed that you cannot get a hold of your emotions. So sorry it happened to you. I wish you well,” one user wrote.

Another user commented, “I hate that we as women have to go through this BS. Similar things happened to me in a crowded workshop last month and it was so disgusting. No one helped or took action, neither the police nor the hotel management, which was even more painful.”

“This is just so ridiculous. I'm so sorry Rishika that you have to go through all this,” a third user remarked.

A fourth user added, “This is absolutely disgusting! Really sorry this happened to you. I hope a police complaint has been made and action will be taken accordingly.”
