Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised fellow Members of Parliament (MPs) by asking them to join for lunch on Friday at the Parliament canteen.

One of the leaders who was part of the entourage that ate with PM Modi was Union Minister L Murugan, who said that PM Modi spoke about his daily routine and revealed that he slept for only three-and-a-half hours and did not eat anything after 6 pm.

"Everyone was surprised and happy at the same time. PM Modi talked about his daily routine, his exercise, his foreign trips, when he visited Karachi. We got to spend 45 minutes with him. We learnt so many inspiring things from him. He said he sleeps for 3.5 hours and does not eat after 6pm."

"The MPs were from all across the parties and representing different parts of India. PM Modi sat with us like a normal person, he did not sit there like a Prime Minister and then prime minister paid the bill. I am still unable to shake off the feelings," Murugan told ANI.

Murugan also posted from his personal X (formerly Twitter) account and referred to the meet as an "unforgettable moment of life".

Later, PM Modi tweeted photos of the lunch meet with the MPs.

"Enjoyed a sumptuous lunch, made even better thanks to the company of Parliamentary colleagues from various parties and different parts of India," PM Modi wrote in the caption.

The food served for lunch included rice, daal, khichdi and til ka laddoo, among other items and along with Murugan, some of the other MPs who were present were Ram Mohan Naidu (TDP), Ritesh Pandey (BSP), Ladakh MP Jamyang Namgyal (BJP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), and Heena Gavit (BJP).
