One of the major talking points of 2023 was Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy's suggestion that if India's overall work productivity needed to improve, then the country's youth needed to work 70 hours every week.
The 77-year-old's words was met with varied opinion as some leaders concurred with his views while others chose to have a different opinion.
Bengaluru-based furniture startup Wakefit came up with a interesting twist to Murthy's suggestion and urged everyone to focus on rest and recuperation, by asking them to sleep for 70 hours every week.
Wakefit co-founder Chaitanya Ramalingegowda took to LinkedIn and shared a video, emphasising the need for rest in order to deliver consistently.
"We at Wakefit have been following this debate for a while now. With the start of a new financial year and appraisal season in top gear, today seems to be a good time to share our views," Ramalingegowda wrote on the social networking platform.
Ramalingegowda further spoke about how a growing economy required 70 hour contribution from everyone, every year. "A growing economy like ours needs the 70 hour contribution from every team member year after year. Honestly, it is not asking for much," he added.
The post saw a lot of reactions, who praised the idea and highlighting the importance of sleep through the ad.
"This is lovely, Chaitanya! Hilarious and gets the message across with a beautiful brand connect," one user wrote.
"Haha. Amazing stuff Chaitanya. Much required to talk about sleep and how it rejuvenates the person to perform better. Thanks for doing it through this ad," another user wrote.
