Bengaluru rains: Man stuck in Electronic City-Silk Board bus for 3 hours. 'Aged travellers finding it very difficult'

After being stuck on a bus for three hours, when a fellow X user jokingly asked Sridhar Swaminathan if he had packed enough 'breakfast + lunch and maybe dinner for the loong ride to work,' Sridhar replied: 'You can plan for your intakes. How about nature's call?'

Heavy rainfall on early Monday has brought Bengaluru to a standstill with flooded roads and crawling traffic. Amid this, a man shared on X that he had boarded a bus to Silk Board from Electronic City at 5 am and was stuck in traffic for hours. He had not reached his destination even at 8 am.

"Public are stuck in traffic from Electronic City from 5 am. Yet to reach Silk Board. It’s more than three hours. Can you manage the traffic better, please?" Sridhar Swaminathan (@sridharSwamina1) wrote to the Madivala traffic police station. In separate tweets he added that there were several other passengers in the bus, especially elderly people, who were finding it extremely difficult to cope with the situation.

"Had a very bad day on the bus from Electronic City to Silk Board. It took three hours. In the bus, there are a lot of aged travellers who are also finding it very difficult," he added.

When a fellow X user jokingly asked if he packed enough "breakfast + lunch and maybe dinner for the loong ride to work," Sridhar replied: "You can plan for your intakes. How about nature's call?"

Another Bengaluru resident claimed it took his kids two hours to reach school amid the traffic snarls, and waterlogging.

Karnataka Weather, a private weather blogger on X, said the Bengaluru City India Meteorological Department (IMD) Automatic Weather Station (AWS) recorded 7 cm of rainfall by 6.30 am. For the day, the weather department has predicted moderate rain and thundershowers in a few places across Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, and Kolar districts.

A traffic advisory has also been issued which listed the affected areas: Outer Ring Road (ORR) between Nagawara Junction and Hebbal (traffic moving slowly in both directions), Hebbal flyover (slow-moving traffic from Esteem Mall towards Mekhri Circle), Veerasandra on the E-city elevated road (sluggish outgoing traffic), ORR at Marathahalli, Karthik Nagar, and Kalyan Nagar, Puttenahalli, Varthur Kodi and Sakra Hospital to Bellandur.
