Water gushing inside buses, submerged cars, boats on the roads and traffic at a standstill – Bengaluru has been struggling with heavy downpour amid crumbling infrastructure and rescue operations for the last couple of days.
Videos shared on social media show the severity of the situation, especially from low-lying areas such as Yelahanka.
NDRF personnel helped residents of Kendriya Vihar apartments in Yelahanka, once home to former President APJ Abdul Kalam, reach the main gate using boats. Fishing began on the roads, bizarre videos show.
Yelahanka received 157 mm of rain in just six hours from Tuesday midnight to Tuesday 6 am.

Residents have been urging authorities to take stock of the situation, tagging ministers and government bodies.
#BengaluruRainsAll we need is a basic infrastructure, I hope with taxes of 30-40% being charged, it's not a sin to expect that @nsitharaman, @narendramodiI would request you to come to Bangalore City and experience the pain of no value for money #BBMP pic.twitter.com/qHlNzEoCJ7Sirish (@Thatzme0011) October 22, 2024
