A video of an eatery in Bengaluru using a broom to clean a pan of crumbs and to smear ghee across it before making dosas has sparked a debate on social media. Another talking point about the video was the amount of ghee being used to fry each dosa. It prompted some users to call it a "deep fried" dosa while others christened it "heart attack dosa."

Captioned "the most hi-tech dosa of Bangalore", the clip features a chef from a Rameshwaram Cafe outlet in the city making multiple dosas at the same point in time. To make the bulk preparation easier, the chef uses a broom to spread the ghee over the huge pan before pouring copious amounts of more ghee over the dosas while they cook.

Although it is likely that the broom being used in the eatery was used only for cooking purposes, it made several social media users call the practice unhygienic.

"Please don't use the broom to spread the oil. We know that you are improvising but you may choose to opt for a custom-made oil brush... It's not pleasant to watch brooms, toothbrushes, toilet brushes, and wipers being improvised for cooking purposes... specific tools have been made for specific purposes," commented Facebook user Pallavi Arun.

"Stick broom! Really! That's just nasty, to be honest. Don't know where else that broom is being used.. thank you for sharing after watching this video I don't think I can even stomach the idea of eating a dosa, thank you very much!" wrote another user TJ Rodricks.

Social media users also found the use of ghee and spices excessive.

"Poori has lesser oil than this. It's not masala dosa, it's oil-dosa-oil," said Facebook user Reshu Bansal, while another user Srikanth Deshmukh added, "That quantity of ghee and ‘chattni pudi’ for one dose (dosa) is of no benefit for health. Please maintain caution on intake; a healthy life is more precious than the momentary satisfaction of taste buds."

There were also some comments that left other users in splits.

"It's good to remember that keeping customers alive is good for repeat business," X users @savitha_rao commented. "First bite will feel like heaven. Second bite will take you there!" added @shreyasvenki while a third user @ThinkingHearts said, "This is Rameswaram Cafe. We call it 'Death by Ghee' outlet."
