Asus is all set to bring more power to its Strix and Scar series with new additions. The ROG Strix Scar III and Strix Hero III will feature refreshed chips in the form of the newly launched Intel 9th Gen CPUs. While both these gaming laptops will be available by Q2 2019, Asus has also unveiled a budget Strix G laptop available starting today from $999 (Approx. Rs 70,000).
So, let’s take a look at what’s under the hood of the latest ROG gaming powerhouses:
PowerBoth the Strix Scar III and Strix Hero III rank at the very top of the list with both gaming laptops featuring the latest Intel Core i9-9880H, the only laptop processor capable of hitting 5GHz boost clock speeds. The Strix G laptop will feature two 9th Gen Intel chips in the form of a Core i7-9750H and Core i5-9300H. Beyond gaming, the Core i9-9880H is also touted as an excellent chip for content creators, promising up to 18-percent higher fps and 28-percent faster 4K video editing.
GraphicsEach of the three ROG laptops can be configured with an RTX 2070 graphics card. Asus has confirmed that the budget Strix G series will also come in RTX 2060, GTX 1650 and GTX 1660Ti GPU options. And, while all laptops won’t feature RTX goodness, they will all be equipped with Nvidia’s new Turing-based GPUs.
DisplayAsus is bringing the next level of display technology on its new ROG Strix Scar III and Strix Hero III. The laptops will be available in two sizes with the 15.6-inch IPS panel offering a 144Hz or 240Hz screen, while the 17.3-inch screen only gets a 144Hz IPS panel. The Strix G series will feature 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch screen with 60Hz and 120Hz options for the 15.6-inch panel and 60Hz and 144Hz for the 17.3-inch panel.
The recently unveiled Asus ROG gaming laptops seem like pretty solid additions to the company’s line of mobile gaming powerhouses. The refreshed RTX and GTX Turing-based mobile graphics on their new ROG laptops coupled with the 9th Gen Intel H-series CPUs are set to take mobile gaming performance to the next level. Another exciting feature of the upcoming ROG models is the 240Hz panel as compared to most laptop displays that tend to max out at 144Hz.
