Meta’s popular messaging platform, WhatsApp, has been introducing a host of new features lately, and now it’s planning to introduce a new ‘Imagine’ chat shortcut, that would help in generating images through Meta AI. Previously, WhatsApp tested the profile image generation and stickers through AI.
Imagine shortcut: What it brings
According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the image generation ‘Imagine’ shortcut was first spotted on the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.12.4. Currently, this shortcut is available for limited users who are using Meta AI chatbot and is under development. It is visible within the chat attachment sheet.
Further, the ‘Imagine’ shortcut option for the AI image generation tool will be displayed alongside other attachment icons in the chat section. Among the other options, this ‘Imagine’ icon will have a Meta AI ring logo. This shortcut is then speculated to enable quick image generation for those who frequently communicate via AI images.
The Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp is currently only available in select countries, which include the US, Australia, Canada, South Africa, and more. However, Meta is planning to introduce the chatbot in India as well.
WABetaInfo also suggests that the ‘Imagine’ shortcut is still in development and is speculated to be introduced to the stable WhatsApp app sometime in the future. It is expected that this tool will help generate AI-powered images quickly through a prompt, saving time and effort, especially for those who frequently use multiple images in their chat conversations.
