It has become common for Google to tease its upcoming tablet at its events, and the tech giant employed the same strategy again at the Pixel 7 Made by Google event. While the outlines of its details continue to get filled in before the 2023 launch, here is everything we know about the Pixel tablet so far.
A hybrid Smart Display/Tablet
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the upcoming device is that Google isn't looking at it as merely another tablet.
When designing the next iteration in the category since Pixel Slate's launch in 2018, Google set out to understand how people actually use them. What it found was that tablets were used sparingly in modern homes.
They would be used only for a small portion of the day, and spend the rest of the time being locked away in a drawer or lying around misplaced somewhere. Google says that it wanted to challenge this notion and make tablets more useful as an at-home device.
Its solution was to pair it with a new Charging Speaker Dock. The dock will keep your device charged while making it more useful as a smart display, that you may use to set up controls for various items at home. Google said that the enhanced audio from the dock would make it more useful as an entertainment device while turning it into a controller for connected smart home experiences.

Alright, but what about the hardware?
While final specifications are still unknown, Google has said that it will be powered by the same Tensor G2 SoC, that powers the Pixel 7 smartphones. This will be the first time that Google will use its own silicon for tablets, and as such, would provide the same Android experience on a bigger screen.
As with the Pixel phones, the Pixel tablet will retain a stock Android experience, complete with features such as Material You, which allows you to personalize your home screens with custom colors and accents that are based on your wallpapers and lock screens.
Google said that the dock's magnets have been tuned to allow docking or undocking as easy as possible. As for the final hardware reveal, Google has promised a better look, closer to the 2023 launch.
