India’s third largest IT services company HCLTech is all set to onboard over 10,000 freshers in the fiscal year 2025, coming at a time when many of its peers are avoiding sharing campus hiring targets amid an uncertain demand environment.

Speaking at the company’s fourth-quarter earnings conference, Ramachandran Sundararajan, chief people officer said, “For FY25, our go in position is about 10,000. So the off-campus cycle we did in the last quarter, we have more than 10% of the plan coming from that. From the campus cycle for this quarter, we have already released the offers which covers another 15 percent of that plan, and the next cycle too is on.”

“So if you look at the readiness to meet the numbers for this year, we are quite prepared for that. So the go-in position is we look at 10,000 plus for FY25,” he added.

HCLTech had also bucked the larger IT industry-wide trend on both sequential and full-year net addition numbers. It added 2,725 employees in the fourth quarter ended March 31.

Net fresher addition in Q4 stood at 3,096 freshers. For the full year, HCLTech added 12,141 freshers.

The company's total headcount in Q4 was 227,481. It added 1,537 employees YoY in FY24.

HCLTech’s attrition in the last 12-month (LTM) basis for Q4 stood at 12.4 percent compared to the 12.8 percent reported last quarter. This is the lowest attrition for the company since the COVID-19 quarter in 2021.

Peers like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are expecting to add around 40,000 freshers in FY25, while Tech Mahindra said it will add about 6,000 freshers.

HCLTech announced its Q4 earnings on April 26, reporting a net profit of Rs 3,986 crore, growing 0.1 percent YoY. The IT firm declared a Rs 18 dividend.

The company posted a 7.1 percent increase in revenue at Rs 28,499 crore in Q4FY24 as compared to Rs 26,606 crore in the year-ago period.

For the full year FY24, revenue went up by 8.3 percent YoY to Rs. 109,913 Crores, and net profit grew by 5.7 percent to Rs 15,702 crore.
