OnePlus Nord CE4 might be short on gimmicky features, but it's a good-looking smartphone with a dependable camera and massive battery.

CE: Core Edition. The CE devices in the OnePlus Nord line are smartphones that deliver on the key features that matter for most consumers. OnePlus’ Nord CE3 Lite was one of the best-selling smartphones of 2023. The brand has just unleashed the OnePlus Nord CE4 that is all set to take on devices like the Nothing Phone (2a) in the sub Rs 25K price band. Here’s our take after a week with this device:

Marble slab: it’s the Celadon Marble colour option that stands out in a crowd. The device is available in Dark Chrome but the marble finish is more attention-grabbing. OnePlus keeps the heft at under 190gm. It feels great in your hand and looks quite premium for its asking price.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 went on sale at 6.30 pm on April 1, 2024. The OnePlus Nord CE4 launched at 6.30 pm on April 1, 2024.

Bezel-less: with a screen: body ratio of 93.4 percent, this device is all screen. The 6.7-inch FHD+ (2412 x 1080 pixels / 394 PPI) display is quite immersive and peaks at 1100 nits. A 120Hz refresh rate is almost a given in this segment, and adds to its appeal. The CE4 also gets the handy aqua touch feature (that we’ve seen on the pricier OnePlus 12) that allows you to work the display even with wet hands.

Need for speed: OnePlus devices almost always deliver on speed. This one’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset that teams up with 8GB of RAM. The CE4 comes in two variants – 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB (that we checked out). The device aced our multi-tasking and benchmarking tests and should please most users. It clocked 3004 in our Geekbench (multi-core) test.

Improved cam: the triple rear cam is one of the key improvements over its predecessor especially in lowlight scenarios where the OIS gives the primary Sony LYT-600 sensor (50MP) a boost. There’s no dedicated macro lens but that’s certainly not a deal breaker for most users.

Monster battery: the plastic back might not please everyone, but it certainly doesn’t look tacky. It also keeps the device light despite packing a massive 5500 mAh-battery under the hood. You get a 100W charger that powers your device in less than half hour.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 might be short on gimmicky features but it ticks all the right boxes including a gorgeous design, a dependable cam and massive battery making it one of the most compelling smartphone buys under Rs 25K.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 comes in Celadon Marble and Dark Chrome and costs Rs 24,999 (8GB/128GB) and Rs 26,999 (8GB/256GB). OnePlus is offering a Rs 1,500 discount on select credit cards.
