Online battle royale game Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is rolling out a new update patch on its mobile platform. The PUBG Mobile 0.10 update will bring several new features such as a whole new map, in-game changes, security improvements, thematic changes along with a new vehicle and a layout. The update was announced by Tencent in a post on Reddit earlier.

Moneycontrol has exclusively learnt that the new update will be available for download starting 12 am (UTC) on December 20, 2018. The latest update will incorporate a new snow map called Vikendi, a brand new snowmobile, which will be available only in Vikendi.

In the new update, Tencent has added Firearms Finish Upgrade System, where "players can use materials at the lab to upgrade certain weapon finishes to get additional kill effects, unique kill broadcasts, and death crate appearances".

Although the update will be available on December 20, users will have to wait for 24 hours for "matchmaking".

New features added in the update

The most important component of the update is the 6km x 6km Vikendi snow map. Players will get access to the snowmobile only in this map, they can experience a Snowball Fight on Vikendi’s Spawn Island, along with snow. The update introduces a new layout which ends issues faced by players with large hands.

Crew Challenge winners will have a new display on Erangel's Spawn Island. Going forward, players' best results in Crew Challenge will be shown on their Crew pages. These can be shared with other players. Season 1's winning teams will appear on the Spawn Island of their respective server and modes. Separately, registrations for Season 2 are set to begin at 12 am UTC on 18 December 2018.

Thematic changes of the update include snow theme in the main menu, a tuned-up front page of the shop which emphasises themes of each major update. In 0.10, the game has added cross-server matchmaking which, if enabled, will allow players a chance to be matched to players of the same tier on other servers. The game will ban players for a certain period of time, if they are found to be repeatedly exiting from matches right after starting.

In-game changes include Lucky Treasure – a feature which gives players a chance to get an upgradable weapon finish Glacier - M416 when they finish daily missions, improved rewards on season spending along with discounts on firearm finishes.

Other improvements include added support for Arabic language, added commands for Quick Chat, ability for players to collect all daily missions at once and reporting suspicious behaviour noticed while spectating.
