Sports festivals and matches behind closed doors seems to be the theme now with the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions around the world and fans are gradually getting used to the idea as the new normal.
This means there is no live audience so that social distancing policies are followed. Now, Goodwood Estate has also decided to hold the Goodwood Speedweek motoring festival behind closed doors.
The new festival will incorporate both the Festival of Speed and Revival events that had to be cancelled thanks to the pandemic, but it will also place focus on new metal and classic cars.
This time, the event will not be held at the Estate itself but at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, which also means that the Hill Climb where every historic and F1 cars from racing history come, will not be held.
There will be an event where classic, high-value cars will be driven around the track by celebrities and famous drivers. On the final day, a winner-takes-all one-lap shootout event will also be held featuring some of the fastest cars in the motorsport history.
The Goodwood Speedweek is scheduled to be held between October 16 and October 18. It will be broadcast globally free of charge on the Goodwood website.
