Korean manufacturer Kia is gearing up for the launch of their SUV in India. While it is expected to be named Tusker, the “SP2i” codenamed SUV was spotted for the second time in Mumbai, ahead of its launch.

The heavily camouflaged test vehicle looked quite close to the production-ready version of the SUV, which could indicate that Kia is preparing for its launch soon. The car which was spotted is in the same league of its cousin Creta, with the body of a compact SUV and the seating capacity of five. It also featured 17-inch alloys and disc brakes on all four wheels.

The camouflaged car also featured aluminium roof-rails, shark fin antenna and a roof-mounted spoiler. The interiors were also shrouded in the dark, but we could figure out a manual gearbox as well as plush styling. It is expected that the interior will be decked at par with other SUVs in its segment.

Although the engine details are unknown, it is expected that Kia will power the SP2i with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which could get an optional dual-clutch transmission. It could also get an optional 1.6-litre diesel engine which powers the Hyundai Creta.

Kia’s SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 15-18 lakh (Ex-showroom) and could hit the Indian market later this year.
