Mercedes-Benz has been working towards the launch of its updated flagship sedan, the S-Class. While test mules have been spotted doing rounds, recently a tweet was posted with a leaked image of the car’s interior. This leak shows many important and aesthetic changes that the German auto giant has planned for the luxury sedan.

One of the prominent changes is the replacement of the dual infotainment screen with a single unit for the instrument console along with a massive vertically stacked display for the rest of the controls. The touchscreen system is also designed to eliminate most of the switches on the dashboard, to give it a cleaner look. The air-vents have also been made sleeker while the sedan gets an all-new steering wheel.
The new-gen S-Class will be based on Mercedes-Benz’s Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform which underpins at least ten different models. It will also get an electric drivetrain as an option, which will be named the EQ S and will be built on the company’s new Modular Electric Architecture (MEA) platform.
The car will receive its standard set of six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options, but it will also receive AMG-tuned Affalterbach engine which is a 4-litre V8 bi-turbo motor. It is likely that this engine will be evolved into a hybrid.
Mercedes-Benz will most likely give the S-Class a completely new style along the lines of the new A-Class or the new CLS. Considering that the current S-Class is assembled in India, its successor is expected to follow the same route.
