The very first keyboard that I owned was a heavy IBM mechanical keyboard. These were built well enough to let you hammer down nails as well as annoying people. With no frame of reference, I took this level of quality for granted. It is only later in the '90s when I tried out the new-fangled membrane keyboards that I realised truly how awesome these mechanical keyboards were. If you have read my gaming keyboard guide, you will realise the extent of my dislike for membrane keyboards. I believe the idea of purchasing an expensive gaming keyboard bearing polydome switches is a complete and utter waste of good money.
