MapMyIndia, the local maps and navigation service has launched a free location-based application called ShowNearby for Android, iOS and BlackBerry. The app allows users to locate nearby places of interest like restaurants, banks, petrol pumps, tourist spots, emergency services and more. It is, of course, powered by MapMyIndia. The application derives information of the user's location via GPS and for any place the user may want to visit, the app also provides the address, phone number and hours of operation of the specific place, which can then be saved to the phone's contact list, as well as can be shared with friends via email or SMS. Users can also see and request deals at outlets and brands in the application.
