Internet Explorer losing lead quickly, slips under 40 percent share

Statcounter is one of the oldest statistics service on the web and they‘ve been monitoring browser stats for ages now.

We’ve talked about Chrome picking up pace and even overtaking Firefox as the number two browser around. The next collision, of course is going to be between Chrome and Internet Explorer, by the looks of things. Chrome continues to accelerate and Internet Explorer seems to be dipping quickly. At this rate, Chrome is headed to become the most used browser by the end of this year. Internet Explorer dropped from 40.63 percent in November to 38.65 percent in December. Chrome, on the other hand, rose from 25.69 percent in November 2011 to 27.27 percent in December.
