Students who are chosen as NEP SAARTHIs will work as ambassadors to promote NEP by undertaking campaigns at university levels and using social media to disseminate information about the same.
The minister also said ”we need to de-link degrees from competency and envision a future where competency would prevail”.
NCrF is a comprehensive credit framework encompassing elementary, school, higher and vocational education and training.
The Commission has also asked the universities to promote the use of local language in teaching and learning processes as well.
The commission stressed that it is necessary to strengthen these efforts and "promote such initiatives as writing textbooks in the mother tongue/local languages and encouraging their use in teaching, including translating standard books from other languages".
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also cautioned potential students against taking admission in any course offered by the institute.
The draft NCrf document was released for public comment in October 2022, and the higher education regulator, UGC, notified it on Tuesday after it had received all final comments.
While a total of 2.59 lakh students left the country in the year 2020, the number rose by 80 percent to 4.44 lakhs in 2021 and to 7.5 lakhs in the year 2022
On January 5, UGC Chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar said the foreign varsities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) would need an approval from the commission to set up their campuses in India.
These universities will have the freedom to devise their own admission process and fee structure, Kumar said as the UGC on Thursday announced the draft regulations for 'Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India'.
The framework has been developed by revising the existing Choice Based Credit System.
The draft 'curriculum and credit framework for four-year undergraduate programmes’ prepared in accordance with National Education Policy is likely to be notified on Monday.
This the second such warning this year to students by the higher education and the technical education regulators.
Kumar told PTI that the scores have been normalised to provide a level playing field to students who wrote the exam in the same subject on different days or in different shifts.
The Commission has also notified a list of 17 programmes that are prohibited to be offered under ODL and online mode.
