The government announced that Operation Shield — a civil defence exercise or a mock drill — would take place in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Chandigarh — the states and Union territories bordering Pakistan.
The first civil defence exercise had been conducted across the country on May 7, hours ahead of Operation Sindoor.
The chief minister directed officials to test preparations by conducting mock drills in hospitals across the state on April 11-12.
The mock drill comes days after the national capital and its adjoining areas felt tremors for two days in a row.
The Centre had asked states and Union Territories to conduct the drill as part of precautionary measures following an increase in Covid cases in China and other countries.
In the wake of a spurt in COVID-19 cases in some countries like China, Japan, Brazil and South Korea, the Union government has issued guidelines, asking the hospitals to conduct mock exercises across the country.
He requested the health ministers of states to personally monitor and review preparedness of all infrastructure and ensure there is adequate stock of essential medicines.
The enquiry had been ordered by the Agra administration last week after a video clip surfaced on social media in which the owner of the city's Shri Paras Hospital was purportedly heard saying that he conducted a "mock drill" in which oxygen supply was cut off for COVID-19 patients for five minutes.
