Hameed Huq, MD of Tata Coffee told CNBC-TV18 that the coffee prices Arabica and Robusta has not been very strong, but he is expecting hardening of Arabica and Robusta Prices in second half of FY14.
Hameed Huq, managing director, Tata Coffee says that the Arabica prices, which peaked last year has corrected substantially from 270 cents per pound to 180 cents per pound levels. We believe that the Arabica prices have bottomed out and there are chances of upward correction in the second half of the fiscal.
Tata Coffee reported dismal numbers for the quarter ended December 31, 2011. The company's net profit plunged 51.67% at Rs 24.03 crore, same period last year, due to its US subsidiary Eight O' Clock riding a rough patch on account of rising prices.
Tata Coffee has been a star performer as far as the stock price is concerned. Managing director Hameed Huq indicated that the company will see good growth in H2FY12 as well. He mentioned that they have increased speciality coffee prices to protect their margins.
