Though no timeline for raising capital was discussed, the government is confident that the beleaguered telco will be back on track very soon, says a top DoT official.
"I have made it very clear to Vodafone and Idea Cellular that we are interested in buying their towers in seven circles where Bharti Infratel is sole operator and Indus doesn't operate," Bharti Infratel Executive Chairman Akhil Gupta said.
The expansion has resulted in coverage of over 380 towns and 43,500 villages in the region which has a massive subscriber base of 61 million mobile phone users, BL Venkateshwar, CEO of Indus Towers (Maharashtra and Goa Circle), told reporters here.
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday restrained the Income Tax (I-T) department from taking coercive measures against Idea Cellular for its tax demand of Rs 3,900 crore.
Aditya Birla Telecom and Idea Cellular are now under the tax department‘s scanner, with notices adding up to Rs 3,900 crore, reports CNBC-TV18's Aakansha Sethi.
