Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Results in June for the first time in over 20 years

In 2014, general election results were held in nine phases, from April 7 to May 12, and results were out on May 16. Prior to that, in 2009, Lok Sabha Elections were held in five phases, between April 16 and May 13, and results were announced on May 17. In 2004, general elections were held in four phases between April 20 and May 10, and results were out on May 13.

For the first time in more than 20 years, the results of the Lok Sabha Elections - termed the biggest festival of democracy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi -  will be declared in the month of June.

The 18th Lok Sabha elections, comprising 543 seats, will be conducted in seven phases commencing from April 19, with the results slated to be out on June 4, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) announced during the Election Commission of India's (ECI) press briefing at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan on March 16.

Notably, this is the first time in more than 20 years that the results of the General Elections will be announced in June. In the previous terms, Lok Sabha Election results have been religiously declared in the sweltering heat of May.

In 2019, the Lok Sabha Elections were held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The results were declared on May 23.

In 2014, general election results were held in nine phases, from April 7 to May 12, and results were out on May 16.
