A woman was allegedly shot dead in northwest Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh on Saturday, with police suspecting the murder may be linked to the unresolved killing of her husband, officials said.
The victim has been identified as Rachna Yadav, whose husband was murdered several years ago.
Police said she had been actively pursuing the case and repeatedly seeking action against the accused. Some of those named in her husband’s murder case remain absconding and are now being considered prime suspects in her killing.
Investigators are examining whether the attack was meant to silence Yadav or intimidate witnesses associated with the earlier case. A senior police officer said multiple teams have been formed to trace the assailants.
Police are scanning CCTV footage from the area and questioning local residents to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting.
