Since World War II, beach landings have always proven to be critical turning points. From Normandy to Vietnam, amphibious missions have shaped the course of history. India is now on the verge of scripting a new chapter in its theatre command history as troops from the Indian Navy, Indian Army, and Indian Air Force undertake a mega amphibious exercise off the Saurashtra coast.

This mission marks the successful culmination of Exercise Trishul, India's largest wargame since Operation Sindoor, when the nation was on the brink of a full-blown conflict with its nuclear-armed neighbour, Pakistan.

Given the new intelligence inputs on Islamabad's major military expansion in Sindh Province, the mobilisation in Saurashtra sends a loud and clear message from New Delhi. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has repeatedly stated that any misstep by Rawalpindi will be dealt with an iron hand.

Over 50,000 troops were mobilised for Exercise Trishul, which began on October 30 and concludes today. As part of the exercise, India's tri-services are conducting wargames to test overall battle readiness. The mega exercise includes drone combat, cyber warfare, amphibious operations, and electronic warfare.

From Thar to Saurashtra, India is flexing its military muscle across all major frontiers. The message is not lost on Pakistan. While India has maintained that the exercise is a routine military drill, a rattled Pakistan reportedly shut down its airspace completely.
It is the final phase of Exercise Trishul in Saurashtra that has particularly unsettled Rawalpindi. India has described this phase as "a joint exercise in the Kutch sector involving the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Border Security Force aimed at enhancing integrated operational capabilities through close coordination with the civil administration." The exercise reflects India's growing emphasis on military-civil fusion to strengthen national security.
The final phase will conclude with a large-scale Joint Amphibious Operation off the Saurashtra coast, featuring beach landings by the Amphibious Forces of Southern Command. This phase will validate full land-sea-air integration and underscore the Indian Armed Forces' ability to project power and maintain synergy across multiple domains.
