A red alert was also issued for July 15 in Kerala for Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod and an orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Due to intense rain and thunderstorms on July 15, schools and institutions in six districts of Kerala would remain closed.
