Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed the Congress over its youth wing's "shirtless" protest during the recently concluded India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, saying the grand-old party used a global event for its "dirty and naked politics".

Addressing a gathering in Meerut, the Prime Minister said the protest clearly indicated how "ideologically bankrupt" and "impoverished" the grand old party has become.

In a scathing jibe at Congress, PM Modi said, "You are already naked, then why did you feel the need to take off your clothes?"

"Look at what happened in Delhi (AI Summit protest). Did the TMC, DMK, BSP or National Conference commit a sin? No, they did not commit a sin. Only the Congress leaders are hell-bent on ruining the country. If you want to sit on the Prime Minister's chair, you must first win over the people," remarked PM Modi.

"There are some political parties within the country that cannot digest India's success. We just witnessed the world's largest AI conference in India. The entire country was filled with pride. But what did the Congress and its ecosystem do? The Congress turned a global event for India into a platform for its dirty and naked politics," PM Modi said at the event.

Attacking the Congress for disrupting Parliament and going against established parliamentary etiquette, the PM said: "You can't become a Prime Minister by sending women MPs to secure seats (in Parliament). What compulsion do you have to put forward mothers and sisters like this? Have you become so hollow? Congress has become a burden to the country. I am satisfied that Congress allies have shown the courage to fully criticise the Congress party over the incident in Delhi. I am deeply grateful to these friends of the opposition for standing with the truth and with the country's pride."

On Friday, around 10 activists from the Congress’s youth wing entered the AI Summit venue and staged a dramatic shirtless protest, raising slogans against Prime Minister Modi, including “PM is compromised” over the India-US trade deal. The protesters were wearing or holding matching white T-shirts printed with images of the Prime Minister and US President Donald Trump, along with the slogans mentioned above.

Delhi Police on told the court that the protestors were inspired by Nepal’s violent Gen Z movement that toppled the government there. Officials claimed there was a larger conspiracy behind the demonstration, which took place during a high-profile summit attended by global leaders and tech moguls.
