A day after the Karnataka High Court restrained Criminal Investigation Department (CID) from arresting him in connection with a POCSO case, BJP leader and former chief minister BS Yediyurappa returned to Bengaluru. On arriving at the airport, he said that the ongoing case against him has caused "unnecessary confusion" and added that he will appear before the court on June 17.
"I went to Delhi as part of a scheduled program. I have already informed that I would come for trial on the 17th of this month. The High Court has also issued an injunction. I am going to the trial on Monday. They did the work of causing unnecessary confusion," Yediyurappa said.
"I am not complaining to anyone. Time will decide everything. People know what the truth is. Those who are doing tricks, the people will teach them a lesson," he added.
On Friday, Karnataka High Court restrained CID from arresting Yediyurappa in the POCSO case. It also directed the veteran BJP leader to appear before CID, which is probing the case, on June 17.
A day prior to that, a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yediyurappa in the POCSO case registered against him on March 14 this year.
The Special Investigation Team of the CID had moved the First Fast Track Court seeking an arrest warrant against him since he failed to appear for questioning on Wednesday.
Yediyurappa had sought time to join the probe.
According to police, Yediyurappa has been booked under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl who alleged that he molested her daughter during a meeting in February this year.
