A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped and assaulted by two men inside a moving van on Monday night before being thrown out of the vehicle on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. The incident left her with severe facial injuries that required 12 stitches, reported The Times of India.
According to the police, the woman was held captive for nearly three hours as the van moved through isolated stretches of Faridabad amid dense fog and cold conditions, the report further said.
The case was registered at Kotwali police station following a complaint filed by the woman’s family. A crime branch team detained two suspects on Tuesday, police sources confirmed.
According to the complaint, the woman left her home around 8:30 pm after an argument with her mother and informed her sister that she was going to a friend’s house. She had said she would return within a few hours, but was delayed while leaving.
By the time she tried to return home, it was close to midnight. Unable to find any transport, she accepted a lift in a van with two men inside, police said.
Instead of taking her home, the men allegedly drove towards the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road and took her beyond the Hanuman temple on the stretch.
The woman reportedly screamed for help, but with very few people on the road due to fog and cold weather, no one heard her cries.
The family alleged that the two men took turns to rape her inside the vehicle. Around 3 am on Tuesday, she was pushed out of the moving van near Mula Hotel at Raja Chowk in SGM Nagar.
Despite her injuries, the woman managed to contact her sister, who rushed her to a hospital. Doctors later referred her to a Delhi hospital, but the family admitted her to a private facility in Faridabad.
