Voters in Maharashtra all set to elect their representatives for the Vidhan Sabha on 20 November after a dramatic last five years in which new coalitions were formed and also parties were split in the state. All the parties are contesting in alliance this Assembly with 'Maha Vikas Agadhi'( Shiv Sena UBT, NCP(SP) and Congress) on one side and 'Mahayuti'(BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP) on another side will look to get on the winning side in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections

Sangli city, located in the Sangli district of Maharastra, is constituency number 282, and the seat falls under the unreserved category. Polling in the Sangli assembly seat will take place on 20 November, as polls in Maharashtra will take place in a single phase. The counting of votes for the Sangli assembly seat will take place on 23 November.

The constituency will witness contest between Bhartiya Janata Party's Sudhir Dada Gadgil and Congress' Prithviraj Gulabrao Patil as the two parties are part of Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Agadhi alliance respectively

Sangli District is a district in the west -central of Maharashtra. Sangli City is the district headquarters. The district is 25.11% urban. Sangli and Miraj are the most significant cities. The industrial town of Kirloskarwadi is also located in the Sangli District. It is known as the sugar bowl of India due to its high sugarcane productivity. Sangli District is one of Maharashtra's most fertile and highly developed districts. The district is very popular as a political powerhouse in the state. It has provided many politicians and bureaucrats and is often referred to as the Heaven of Farmers. The district headquarters is located in Sangli city. It comprises of 10 talukas viz Shirala, Walwa, Palus, Khanapur, Atpadi, Jat, Kadegaon, Tasgaon, Miraj and Kavathe Mahakal. There are eight towns and 724 villages in the district, out of which only three villages are not habited. The district has 1 Municipal Corporation, 4 Municipalities, 10 Panchayat Samities, and 705 Gram Panchayats.

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23. In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42.
