The Nawada Cyber Police in Bihar have busted an unusual online fraud in which men were duped with false promises of money, jobs and sexual favours through advertisements circulated on social media.

“This scam targeted men by offering them up to ₹10 lakh to impregnate childless women. The offers were completely fake,” Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman said, as per an NDTV report.

According to the police, advertisements carrying headlines such as “All India Pregnant Job” and “All India Pregnant Service” were posted on platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. The posts claimed that men could earn large sums of money along with free sexual access to women.

“The accused assured victims that even if they failed to impregnate the woman, they would still receive half the promised amount,” an officer involved in the investigation said, as cited in the report.

To gain the trust of victims, the fraudsters shared photographs of female models and claimed meetings would be arranged. However, before any interaction could take place, the men were asked to pay “initial charges”.

“They demanded money in the name of registration fees, hotel bookings and other expenses. The payments were taken in stages until the victims realised they had been cheated,” the officer has noted.

According to the police, many victims lost substantial amounts of money but were hesitant to approach law enforcement due to fear of social stigma.

“Several victims delayed reporting the crime because of embarrassment and fear of social shame,” the officer added.

During the investigation, the Cyber Police arrested Ranjan Kumar, a resident of Nawada, while a minor was also taken into custody. “We have seized four mobile phones that were used to run the scam,” SP Dhiman said.

The probe also revealed that the accused were involved in other cyber frauds, including fake job offers and bogus loan schemes floated under misleading names such as ‘Playboy Service’, ‘Dhani Finance’ and ‘SBI cheap loans’.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, which make online cheating and impersonation punishable offences.

“This is not the first time such scams have surfaced in the district. Despite earlier arrests, similar frauds keep reappearing in new forms,” police said.

Appealing to the public to remain vigilant, Nawada Cyber Police Station in-charge and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nishu Mallik said, “People should not trust unrealistic and tempting offers on social media. Such claims are meant to trap victims.”

“Any suspicious online activity should be reported immediately to the cyber police,” Mallik added.
