Ahead of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, there are six days of ceremonial rituals taking place.
On January 18, the third day of these rituals, the immovable statue of Ram Lalla will be positioned on a throne decorated with gold. Other rituals, such as habitation rituals, water-related ceremonies, and scent-related rituals, will also be completed. On January 17, proper worship was held at the temple's innermost sanctuary, along with the chanting of the Ram Raksha Mantra.
Jal Yatra, habitation ceremony scheduled for today
On January 18, a Jal Yatra is scheduled, during which water will be collected from the Saryu river. Following this, a habitation ceremony will be organised. The idol, made of various materials, will be presented for some time during this ceremony. It is believed that any imperfections caused by the craftsman's tools on the idol are fixed during this process, and all defects will disappear.

The idol, Ram Lalla, is slated to be installed on the throne in the evening. During the Jaladhivas ritual, the immovable idol will be bathed with water from the Saryu river. Following this, in the Gandhadhivas ceremony, fragrant substances will be applied on the idol of Lord Ram.
PM Modi to lead the rituals on January 22
Notably, the consecration ceremony for Ram Lalla is set to take place during the auspicious Abhijeet muhurta on January 22. The principal host for this ritual will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. Reports suggest that the PM is expected to arrive in Ayodhya on the evening of January 21. On January 22 morning, he may take a bath in the Saryu river and then walk to the temple on foot, wet with Saryu water.
As part of a special ritual, a palanquin carrying a symbolic representation of Ram Lalla was moved around the temple grounds on January 17. This is not the real idol that will be placed in the sanctum sanctorum, and it won't be consecrated. Instead, it serves as a symbolic representation and has been taken on a tour within the temple premises.

Ram Lalla consecration preparations
The real idol of Ram Lalla, meant to be placed in the sanctum sanctorum, is expected to be brought to the Ram temple premises on January 18. Crafted by Karnataka sculptor Arun Yogiraj, this idol represents Lord Ram as an infant.
Following a tour of the temple premises, the child form of Lord Ram, Bal Swaroop, was then escorted into the temple. As per media reports, initially, there was a plan to take the child form of Lord Ram on a city tour. However, due to security concerns, this programme was cancelled, and the idol was only taken around the temple premises.
After the tour, the idol of Ram Lalla was taken inside the temple. A special puja will be performed to cleanse the sanctum sanctorum. Reports suggest that it will be cleaned using the water from the Saryu river, and with water collected from different parts of the country and even abroad.
