Prime Minister Narendra is expected to move to his new office near Raisina Hill after January 14, according to reports.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been in South Block since Independence. According to Indian Express, the Executive Enclave complex or Seva Teerth, on Dara Shikoh Road (formerly Dalhousie Road) in the heart of the Capital, has been constructed as part of the government’s redevelopment of the Central Vista area.
The North Block housed the Home and Finance Ministries. They have now been shifted to Kartavya Bhavan.
Called Executive Enclave, the premises have been named Seva Teerth. There are three buildings on these premises. Seva Teerth 1 houses the Prime Minister's Office, Seva Teerth 2 has the cabinet secretariat, and Seva Teerth 3 has the National Security Council secretariat and the office of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
According to NDTV, the Prime Minister's residence is being built near the new office and once it's ready, he will move out of the residence on 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
Sources told Indian Express that most offices in the new PMO building will be like modern workspaces in the recently completed secretariat buildings, Kartavya Bhavan, under the Central Vista plan, in terms of the finishing. The PM’s own office and the rooms meant for ceremonial purposes during high-level visits will have a grander look in keeping with the nature of the use.
According to the IE report, the complex has been constructed by Larsen and Toubro for the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), which had awarded the contract in 2022.
Announced in 2019, the Central Vista redevelopment project includes the construction of the new Parliament building, which was completed in 2023, the Vice-President’s Enclave, which was completed in 2024, and 10 new Common Central Secretariat buildings, of which the first three have been constructed and named Kartavya Bhavan in 2025.
Last month, PM Modi renamed the Prime Minister’s Office as Sewa Tirth. In a social media post, Union Home Minister Amit Shah mentioned that the names of Raj Bhavan and Raj Niwas are being changed to Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas. He described this as an important milestone in the nation’s journey toward building a developed and superior India, with service and good governance as key priorities.
