PM Modi launches development projects worth Rs 56,000 crore

Of the Rs 56,000 crore worth of projects, Rs 30,000 crore are projects of state-run power generation company NTPC Ltd.

Modi in Telangana on March 4

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4 inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 32 developmental projects across the country. Out of these, 29 projects were related to the power sector and three to the rail and road sectors. The total worth of all the projects the PM launched from Telangana is more than Rs 56,000 crore.

"The land of Adilabad is becoming a witness to development projects related not only to Telangana but to the entire country as more than 30 development projects worth more than Rs 56,000 crore are either being dedicated to the nation or their foundation stones are being laid today. These projects include many projects related to energy, environment sustainability and road connectivity in the state," Modi said addressing the crowd in Adilabad, Telangana.

Power

Of the Rs 56,000 crore-worth of projects, Rs 30,000 crore are projects of state-run power generation company NTPC Ltd. The projects include Unit -2 (800 MW) of NTPC's Telangana Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-I) located in the Peddapalli district of Telangana. With an investment of Rs 8,007 crore, this project utilises ultra-supercritical technology, ensuring optimal power generation efficiency while significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

The Prime Minister also dedicated Unit-2 (660 MW) of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project (3x600 MW), situated in Jharkhand. Besides, he laid the foundation of the Singrauli Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2X800 MW), developed in Sonebhadra, Uttar Pradesh, with a total investment of Rs 17,000 crore.

Seven projects of the Power Grid Corporation of India were also inaugurated, while the foundation stone for one was laid by the PM. These projects will play a crucial role in strengthening the National Grid.

The PM also inaugurated NHPC’s 380 MW solar project at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Around 792 million units of green power will be generated each year from the project. ReNew's Koppal-Narendra Transmission Scheme for the evacuation of 2500 MW renewable Energy was also inaugurated. This inter-state transmission scheme is located in Koppal district of Karnataka. Other power sector-related projects of SJVN, Damodar Valley Corporation, and IndiGrid were also inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

The foundation of TUSCO's 600 MW Lalitpur Solar Power Project in the Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh was also laid on March 4. The project envisages generating 1200 million units of green power per year.

Roadways and Railways

Modi also flagged off two passenger trains on the Narkatiaganj-Gaunaha and Raxaul-Jogbani routes, dedicated to the nation's 62-km-long double track between Bapudham Motihari and Piprahan, and the gauge converted route between Narkatiaganj and Gaunaha stations falling under Samastipur division of the East Central Railway (ECR).

The foundation stones of track doubling and electrification of the 96-km-long Gorakhpur Cantt-Valmiki Nagar rail line and redevelopment of Bettiah station and inaugurated road projects, including two-lane Piprakothi-Motihari-Raxaul section of National Highway (NH)-28 A and two-lane Sheohar-Sitamarhi section of NH-104 were also laid on March 4.

PM Modi will be laying the foundation stones of several projects in Patna as well. These projects will encourage tourism, reduce travel time, and create countless employment opportunities, he said.

The foundation stone for the redevelopment of 21 stations in Odisha under the Amrit Bharat stations scheme was also laid by Modi. The stations will have improved facilities and amenities.
