Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10 launched a second generation (2G) ethanol plant built at an estimated cost of Rs 900 crore in Haryana's Panipat. Speaking via video conferencing, the PM dedicated it to the nation and said the plant will aid in increasing the nation's production and use of biofuels and also help in lowering pollution levels in Delhi and Haryana.
"2G Ethanol Plant in Panipat will help boost production and usage of biofuels in the country and it will also help in reducing pollution in the Haryana & Delhi," PM Modi said, speaking after the launch.
The construction of new biofuel plants will create jobs and new opportunities, and will answer the country's pollution problems as well, the PM added.
"Facilities for transportation of cut-out stubble are being made, new bio-fuel plants are being set up, this will provide employment and give rise to new opportunities. All villagers, farmers will be benefitted. This will also reduce challenges of pollution in the country, " said PM Modi.
The PM also stated that biofuel is important for preserving the environment in our nation, which values nature.
For us, biofuel is environmentally friendly fuel that helps the planet, he said.
PM Modi said he is pleased that the Ujjwala scheme alone has provided more than 9 crore underprivileged women with gas connections. He also said India has now almost completely covered the nation with LPG, with the number of gas connections in the country increasing from 14 crore to around 31 crore.
He also stated that anyone who has self-centered politics is welcome to offer free gasoline and fuel, but such actions will deny our children their rights and stop the nation from being self-sufficient. The burden on the nation's taxpayers will increase as a result.
"Anyone can come & announce to give free petrol and diesel if their politics is self-centered. Such steps will take away rights from our children & prevent the country from becoming self-reliant. It will increase burden on the taxpayers of the country," said PM Modi.
