Emphasising water security, PM Modi noted, “Collaboration in water resources management and development will help us share best practices in conservation, efficiency and technology, ensuring long-term water security.”
The Prime Minister also underscored the cultural and people-centric outcomes of the visit.
“The Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora opens new avenues for heritage conservation, tourism and academic exchanges,” he said, adding that the renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme for 2025–2029 would “deepen people-to-people ties”. He further said that sharing India’s digital innovations would support Jordan’s digital transformation and promote inclusive governance.
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), late Monday night, released the list of outcomes from the visit, which included Memorandums of Understanding on technical cooperation in new and renewable energy, cooperation in water resources management and development, a twinning agreement between Petra and Ellora, renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme for 2025–2029, and a letter of intent on sharing population-scale digital solutions for digital transformation.
India and Jordan also signed multiple MoUs to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, water management, digital transformation and cultural heritage. Amman signalled its intent to join Indian-led global initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance during the Prime Minister’s two-day official visit.
India announced support for the India-Jordan Centre of Excellence at Al Hussein Technical University in Amman, including the training of 10 master trainers over three years.
PM Modi was accorded a formal welcome on his arrival in Amman and later held detailed talks with King Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace.
According to the MEA, the two leaders agreed to further deepen the India–Jordan partnership, particularly in trade and investment, defence and security, counter-terrorism and de-radicalisation, agriculture and fertilisers, infrastructure, renewable energy, and tourism and heritage.
“Both leaders reaffirmed their united stand against terrorism,” the MEA noted.
Following the talks, King Abdullah II hosted a banquet in honour of the Prime Minister, underscoring the warmth of bilateral ties.
Jordan is the first leg of PM Modi’s three-nation tour. From Amman, he will travel to Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, marking his first official visit to the African nation, before concluding the tour in Oman.
