In a horrific shocker from Punjab's Ludhiana, the mutilated body parts of a 30-year-old man were found in an empty plot near a private school.
The man, identified as Davinder, had come to Ludhiana from Mumbai only two days ago and had stopped at his home for a brief period before stepping out again. However, he never returned.
His body was found cut into three parts, news agency PTI reported. One part of his body showed signs of being burned, while other parts were wrapped inside a white plastic barrel that had been thrown on the empty plot.
Preliminary probe suggests that a close known person named Shera is the main suspect in the case. CCTV footage has reportedly shown that Shera and one other person had transported a drum with the body of Davinder - towards the plot where it was found.
Police are now questioning Shera and the other person who was seen in the CCTV footage. They are also probing local residents and the family members of the victim to ascertain how things unfolded when Davinder died.
Why Davinder was killed remains unclear and it has been suspected that the murder was done at another place and the body was brought to the empty plot later.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the murder has raised an alarm and c reated panic amongst the local residents. This has come a few days after a burned body was found in an open field within the reach of the Meharban police station limits.
Police have said that an investigation is underway in the case.
