Operation Sindoor, India’s major counter-terror military campaign, was prominently showcased during the 77th Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path, with the Tri-Services tableau underlining the growing integration of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Titled “Victory Through Jointness”, the tableau projected the combined fighting power of the three services and their ability to execute synchronised operations across land, sea, and air.

The display depicted precision air strikes by the Air Force, swift naval manoeuvres to secure maritime dominance, and coordinated ground assaults by the Army, reflecting India’s preparedness for modern, multi-domain warfare.

The operation, which began in the early hours of May 7, involved strikes on terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. It was launched in response to the killing of over two dozen tourists in a terror attack in Pahalgam last year.

A four-day confrontation followed, during which Pakistan attempted missile attacks on Indian cities that were neutralised by India’s air defence network. Hostilities were paused on May 10 after Pakistani commanders sought a ceasefire.

In the skies above the parade, the Indian Air Force conducted a special Sindoor flypast. The formation featured two Rafales, two MiG-29s, two Su-30s, and one Jaguar in a ‘Spearhead’ formation, dedicated to the IAF’s role in Operation Sindoor.

On the ground, the Air Force marching contingent, led by Squadron Leader Jagdesh Kumar, moved in a 12x12 formation. A 72-member band, including Agniveer women musicians for the first time, played the tune “Sound Barrier”.

The Indian Navy also drew attention with its tableau themed “Anchored in Tradition, Sailing into Self- Reliance and Innovation”.

It featured INSV Tarini and the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, along with representations of ancient vessels such as INSV Kaundinya and the Maratha ship ‘Ghurab’. The Navy band played ‘Jai Bharati’ as 144 sailors, led by Lt Karan Nagyal, marched past.

Together, the displays highlighted the services’ focus on JAI -- Jointness, Aatmanirbharta, and Victory through Innovation.
