The Indian Army has released footage of its strike on the Abbas Terrorist Camp located in Kotli, Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). According to the Army, the camp served as a major hub for training Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) suicide bombers and housed key infrastructure used to train over 50 terrorists.

Sheikh Sajjad Gul, a 50-year-old Kashmiri and chief of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) proxy outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), has been identified as the mastermind behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, officials said early today.

Currently holed up in Pakistan's Rawalpindi, under the protection of the LeT, Gul - who also goes by the alias Sajjad Ahmed Sheikh - has been linked to several terror attacks in recent years.

These include targeted killings in Central and South Kashmir between 2020 and 2024, grenade attacks in Central Kashmir in 2023, ambushes on Jammu & Kashmir police in Bijbehra (Anantnag), Gagangir, and the Z-Morh Tunnel attack in Ganderbal.

An emergency was declared in Pakistan's Punjab province today, while all educational institutions were closed in the wake of Indian missile strikes.

The Pakistan army reported that at least 26 people were killed and 46 others injured in the attacks, which took place shortly after midnight in cities across Punjab and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The Pakistan airspace, which had been closed for flight operations following the Indian strikes, has now partially reopened.

Following India's air strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the wee hours today, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the media, highlighting Pakistan's role in fostering terrorism.

He referred to Sajid Mir, the key figure behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks, as a stark example of Pakistan’s involvement.

Misri pointed out the case of Sajid Mir, where the terrorist was initially declared dead, only to later be resurrected in response to international pressure and eventually arrested.

Responding to the situation following Operation Sindoor, IndiGo has announced that, following a government notification on airspace restrictions, over 165 of its flights from multiple airports, including Amritsar, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Gwalior, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Leh, Rajkot, and Srinagar, stand cancelled until 0529 hrs IST on May 10.

Passengers have been advised to check their flight status on the IndiGo website or mobile app before proceeding to the airport.

More than 200 flights were cancelled on Wednesday, and at least 18 airports, including major hubs like Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, and Amritsar, were temporarily shut for operations following restrictions imposed after India launched missile attacks on Pakistan in the morning.

Airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, and Akasa Air, along with several foreign carriers, suspended services to and from affected airports.

Sources confirmed that airports in the northern and western regions, such as Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala, and Jamnagar, were among those closed as a precautionary measure amid heightened security.

Operations are expected to resume after official clearance.

Priyadarshani Achariya, the wife of Prashant Kumar Satpathy, who was killed in the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, expressed her gratitude to the government following India’s retaliatory action under Operation Sindoor.

Speaking to reporters, Achariya said, “I thank the government for the steps they have taken… Hum ghar mein ghus kar hi maarenge (We will enter their homes and strike).”

Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan chaired a review meeting to oversee preparations for a statewide mock drill scheduled for 4 pm today.

Speaking after the meeting, Vardhan said the drill is being conducted in accordance with government guidelines to enhance public preparedness.

"This is to prepare civilians and create awareness so that they are ready and do not panic during real emergencies," the Chief Secretary said, emphasising the importance of proactive safety measures.

Speaking on India’s Operation Sindoor, Consul General of Israel to Midwest India, Mumbai, Kobbi Shoshani praised the Indian government and armed forces for sending a powerful global message.

“It’s a clear message from India to the rest of the world. Also, from your friend Israel, it is essential to send a message to the terrorist,” Shoshani said, calling the strikes an act of self-defence.

Expressing personal pride, he added, “I’m very proud of this operation.”

Reacting to Operation Sindoor, Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar praised the Indian armed forces.

“I think everybody in this country is deeply grateful, deeply thankful to our armed forces, the men and women in uniform who have conducted this Operation Sindoor,” Chandrasekhar said.

“These were people from Pakistan who came and killed 26 men after asking them what their religion was, deliberately to incite and form trouble in our country,” Chandrasekhar noted.

He added, “India understands very well that Pakistan uses the lives of innocent people to try and blackmail India,” underscoring that the country’s response sends a clear message against terrorism.

Meanwhile, in the Valley, along the Line of Control (LoC), the Pakistan Army continues to launch heavy artillery and mortar shelling at forward villages in Jammu and Kashmir.

The attacks resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and left 41 others injured, according to officials.

The targeted villages, located along the border, were subjected to intense fire, leading to widespread panic and causing significant damage.

Authorities have confirmed that the situation remains tense, with the Indian Army taking measures to protect civilians and secure the region.

In a significant media briefing today, two senior women officers from the Indian Armed Forces - Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi - provided crucial details of Operation Sindoor.

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh’s journey with the Indian Air Force (IAF) began with a childhood dream of flying.

Drawn to the skies from her school days, Singh joined the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and later completed her engineering studies. She became the first member of her family to join the armed forces.

Commissioned as a helicopter pilot in the IAF, Singh secured a permanent commission in the branch on December 18, 2019, according to a report by the Economic Times. Her rise reflects determination, breaking barriers, and a deep commitment to service.

In 2016, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi scripted history by becoming the first woman officer to command an Indian Army contingent at a multi-nation military exercise.

Leading the Indian team at Exercise Force 18, the largest foreign military drill hosted by India at the time, Colonel Qureshi oversaw a 40-member contingent in Pune.

The exercise, which brought together forces from 18 countries, focused on Peacekeeping Operations and Humanitarian Mine Action. Notably, Colonel Qureshi stood out as the only female leader among the 18 participating contingents, marking a significant milestone for women in the Indian armed forces.

In a major development, ten family members of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, including his sister and brother-in-law, were reportedly killed in Indian strikes inside Pakistan’s Bahawalpur early today, states a News18 report.

The operation specifically targeted terror infrastructure linked to groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, delivering a strong blow to the UN-designated terrorists’ inner circle.

In the wake of India’s cross-border strikes under Operation Sindoor, the US Mission in Pakistan today issued a security alert, urging American citizens to leave areas of active conflict or shelter in place if unable to do so safely.

The alert, titled “Military Activity and Closed Airspace”, stated, “We are aware of reports of military strikes by India into Pakistan. This remains an evolving situation, and we are closely monitoring developments.”

French Foreign Minister Barrot has responded to India's Operation Sindoor to wipe out terror hideouts in Pakistan, stating, “We understand India’s desire to protect itself from the scourge of terrorism, but we obviously call on both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint to avoid escalation and to protect civilians.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif expressed that Islamabad is prepared to "end the conflict" if India steps back. During an interview with Bloomberg, Khawaja confirmed that attacks had occurred at seven different locations, including in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

He noted that the situation had been initiated by India and stated, "If they are ready to back down… they have taken the initiative, we have just responded," when asked about Pakistan’s actions following India’s Operation Sindoor.

In the aftermath of the Armed Forces' retaliatory strikes in Pakistan, Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the chiefs of all paramilitary forces to call back their personnel who were on leave.

Shah, who is in regular contact with Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, also instructed them to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of civilians living in border areas.

Additionally, Shah urged authorities to have bunkers prepared for the shelter of civilians in case of an emergency situation.

CM Abdullah further informed the public about the ongoing situation, stating, "I held a video conference with district collectors of areas near the border and LoC. I have taken stock of the situation and received reports of some losses from certain places, but we are still collecting detailed information."

He assured that funds have been released to district collectors to handle any contingencies.

Additionally, he confirmed that vehicles and ambulances have been arranged for the evacuation of civilians if necessary.

Sofiya Qureshi, providing an update on the Indian Armed Forces' targeted strike on the Gulpur terror camp, located in Kotli, about 30 km from the Line of Control (LoC), revealed that this Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) camp, active in the Rajouri-Poonch region, was involved in training terrorists responsible for two major attacks: the April 20, 2023 attack in Poonch and the June 9, 2024 attack on a pilgrims' bus.

Addressing the media, she confirmed that the military had successfully targeted and destroyed nine terrorist camps spread across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

"Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. During the media briefing on Operation Sindoor today, Col. Sofiya Qureshi showcased compelling video evidence of the Indian military’s successful precision strikes on terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our intelligence indicated that further attacks against India are impending. Thus, there was a compulsion both to deter and prevent, and hence earlier this morning, India exercised its right to respond to deter such more cross-border terrorism,” Misri stated.

“The attack in Pahalgam was marked with extreme barbarity, with the victims mostly killed with head shots at close range and in front of their family. The family members were deliberately traumatised through the manner of killing, accompanied by the exhortation that they should take back the message,” Misri said while addressing the media.

Misri, addressing the press, further notes, "On April 25, Pakistan's pressure to remove the reference to TRF (The Resistance Front) from the media release shouldn't be ignored. The Pahalgam terrorist attack has exposed the links of Pakistan with terrorists".

Addressing the media, Foreign Secretary Misri stated, “A group called the Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack. This group is connected with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakistan links have been established in this attack.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed strong support for the Indian Army’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor.

In a post on X, Kumar stated, “In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, the Indian Army has targeted 09 terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir under 'Operation Sindoor'. The Director General of Police (DGP), Uttar Pradesh, announced on X that all police field formations have been instructed to coordinate closely with Defence units and intensify security measures at vital installations.

The DGP assured the public that security forces are fully mobilised to ensure the safety and stability of the state.

Operation Sindoor,  launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people, carries significant symbolism.

The name "Sindoor," or vermillion, traditionally represents the marital status of Hindu women, and it also serves as a tribute to the women who lost their husbands in the attack.

It is also linked to the warrior spirit, as warriors wear the sindoor tilak.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has called for an emergency meeting with all relevant officials today at 11 am at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad.

The meeting aims to review security preparations following Operation Sindoor.

The review will focus on safeguarding key strategic locations, including Central, Defence, and State Government installations across Telangana.

The Chief Minister will personally oversee the situation, ensuring heightened security measures and vigilance in all cities, towns, and villages within the state.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reassured the public that both the Centre and State are working closely to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

The District Administration of Doda has announced the cancellation of the mock drill that was scheduled for today.

In an official statement, it confirmed that there will be no mock drill conducted in the district today.

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, voiced strong support for the Indian military's action under Operation Sindoor, which targeted terrorist camps across Pakistan.

Speaking in Thane, Shinde praised the precision strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces.

Shinde thanked PM Modi for his strong leadership, saying, "I welcome the actions being taken under Operation Sindoor. I thank PM Modi for that."

In Operation Sindoor, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes targeting multiple terrorist outfits across Pakistan, with a key focus on the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) headquarters in Muridke, often labeled as Pakistan’s “terror nursery.”

The Muridke compound, located about 40 kilometers from Lahore, spans nearly 200 acres and is regarded as a crucial hub for terror infrastructure.

Meanwhile, responding to the armed forces joint strikes in Pakistan, Asha Narwal, mother of Indian Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, said today in Karnal, “My whole family is with Modi Sahab, who has taken revenge today. I want to tell the Armed Forces personnel to keep moving forward. Today, a tribute has been paid to all those who lost their lives".

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, has called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions.

Operation Sindoor Live: Congress stands firmly with military in fight against cross-border terrorism, says Jairam Ramesh

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh affirmed the party’s unwavering support for India’s response to cross-border terrorism.

“India’s commitment to eliminating all sources of terrorism in Pakistan and PoK must remain uncompromising and anchored in our supreme national interest,” he said on microblogging site X.

Underlining the need for unity, Ramesh noted that “since the night of April 22nd, the Congress has repeatedly stated that the government will have our fullest support in the nation’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The INC stands firmly with our armed forces.”

Wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who was killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, says, “I want to thank PM Modi for avenging my husband’s death. My entire family trusted him, and the way he responded to Pakistan has upheld that trust. This is the true tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, he will be at peace today.”

In Jammu, the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, and educational institutions in the districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch today in view of the prevailing situation under Operation Sindoor.

Meanwhile, In a strong and swift response to the recent ceasefire violations along the Line of Control early this morning, the Indian Army effectively countered artillery fire from the Pakistan Army.

Defence sources have confirmed that the Pakistan Army has suffered casualties due to the intense retaliation from Indian forces.

The exchange of fire follows multiple ceasefire violations by Pakistan, prompting a measured yet forceful response from India.

Under 'Operation Sindoor,' the Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted precise night raids on nine terror hideouts located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), targeting key headquarters of the banned terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, officials confirmed today.

The targeted locations included:

>> Jaish-e-Mohammed: Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Sarjal at Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli, and Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad.

>> Lashkar-e-Taiba: Markaz Taiba in Murdike, Markaz Ahle Hadith in Barnala, and Shwawai Nalla camp in Muzaffarabad.

>> Hizbul Mujahideen: Makaz Raheel Shahid in Kotli and Mehmoona Joya in Sialkot.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to all three armed forces chiefs after  Operation Sindoor was conducted late at night and discussed the situation, according to sources, states an ANI report.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dwivedi, father of Shubham Dwivedi, who lost his life in the Pahalgam attack, reacting to India's Operation Sindoor, said, "I am continuously watching the news. I salute the Indian Army and thank PM Modi, who listened to the pain of the country's people. The way the Indian military has destroyed the terrorism that is flourishing in Pakistan, I thank our military for that. My entire family has been feeling light since we heard this news..."
