The Government of Odisha will host the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 in Puri from December 5–7, bringing together national and international stakeholders to discuss India’s evolving energy landscape. The event will focus on strategies to meet rising power demand, ensure reliable supply, and drive the transition toward sustainable and technology-driven energy systems.

The logo and website of the summit were launched in New Delhi by Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik and Odisha Deputy Chief Minister (Energy) Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. The summit will be held under the theme “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation.”

Speaking on the announcement, Shripad Yesso Naik said, “Energy sufficiency is not only about meeting demand but ensuring reliability and resilience. GELS will play an important role in achieving Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of sustainability and cooperative federalism and for India to achieve Net Zero by 2070.” He added that the summit “reflects India’s commitment to an innovation-driven, sustainable energy future.”

Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said Odisha was “proud to host a summit of this scale,” adding that GELS 2025 would serve as a platform for cooperation between states and energy leaders. “Through GELS 2025, we aim to create a platform where states can learn from one another and turn innovation into progress, inspired by the vision of PM Modi of stronger and active role of states,” he said.

Energy ministers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Bhutan have been invited to participate, alongside global experts including Gareth Walsh and Pierre Noel from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

Highlighting the summit’s goal of producing actionable results, Singh Deo said, “GELS 2025 is not just about dialogue, but about delivery. Every session will conclude with actionable outcomes – clear roadmaps, toolkits, and measurable goals.”
